Le Domaine

The foundation for Domaine Croix Laval was laid around 1670. The original lands that belonged to the mansion covered much more than the current 10,000 m2 of gardens around the house. The domain has been active in many areas over the past 350 years: olive cultivation for fruit and oil, silk, tobacco, chestnuts, combined with sheep, horses, goats, and the like. Today, the house, together with the various terraces, swimming pool and extensive gardens, forms Domaine Croix Laval.

Due to its shape and level differences, the layout of the house is not easy to comprehend at a glance. The core area consists of kitchen, dining room, study and comfortable living room, which are built on a solid foundation of cellars with vaulted ceilings. The additional 'summer-kitchen' with a double door american fridge with ice maker, is positioned closer to the swimming pool and barbeque terrace. Above the main kitchen, living and dining room, there are four double bedrooms. Please click here for more information on the bedrooms. The vaulted cellar of an old extension (now hundreds of years old) houses the fifth bedroom with a double-height 'grande salle' above it, that features an extra living room / play room including table tennis and tv-screen to connect with your laptop/Netflix.

In addition to all kinds of surprising places and views inside and outside, the house has three great terraces to enjoy together. First of all, there is the upper terrace, with beautiful views, and an outdoor table for 12 guests. The main kitchen is located directly next to the upper terrace, making this a wonderful place to have lunch or dinner in the shelter of the canopy. The courtyard of the house has shade all day long and offers a wonderfully cool place in summer due to the surrounding cellars with centuries-old vaulted ceilings. There is also the covered outdoor terrace next to the summer kitchen. This terrace, lined with the wonderful scents of lavender, rosemary and thyme, is spacious enough for all guests as well and offers a clear view of the swimming pool.

The umbrella's and trees around the large swimming pool (6m x 12m) offer plenty of shade. Pool towels and 12 sunbeds ensure comfortable lounging for all.

The extensive garden consists of terraces, separated by ancient stone walls. Built in steps between the levels facilitate relaxing walks on the estate along the fruit trees, olives, walnuts, vines, oak trees (incl. truffle), and many other species of flora.
